ORIGINAL SONG

Every Life Has a Song

Performed by Steve Aberdeen

Every life holds a melody waiting to be heard. With the soaring sound of a big-band jazz orchestra, *Every Life Has a Song* celebrates the courage to share our stories, find our voices, and discover that every voice belongs.

Let Me Tell You About This Song

The story behind the song, told by Veronica.

I believe every life has a soundtrack.

Not necessarily the kind we hear in a movie, with an orchestra rising at just the right moment. Our soundtracks are made from the music we remember, the songs we associate with people we have loved, and the melodies that take us back to places we thought we had forgotten.

Some songs remind us of wonderful moments. Others bring back sadness, regret, or longing. Sometimes a song says something about our lives that we have never quite been able to put into words.

*Every Life Has a Song* grew from that belief.

I wanted the music to feel bigger than one person’s story. I chose the sound of a big-band jazz orchestra, with its brass, piano, rhythm, and sweeping instrumental passages, because an orchestra seemed like a wonderful metaphor for life. Each instrument has its own voice, yet together they create something none could accomplish alone.

The song is also a celebration of what I hope to accomplish through Soundtrack of Our Lives. I want people to remember the music that has accompanied their journeys, understand why certain songs still matter, and perhaps discover that their own experiences deserve to become music.

We don’t have to be famous, extraordinary, or even particularly musical to have a soundtrack worth sharing.

We simply have to have lived.

And every life has a song.

Every life has a song
Every voice belongs
Here’s the stage, here’s the light
Sing your truth into the night
